Company Brings Significant Experience to this Challenging Project
Tampa, FL –January 03, 2023 – Ombra, a leading technology and professional services firm, today announced it has been selected by AFWERX for a Phase II STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) contract in the amount of $750,000. The company’s work will be focused on Chemical Detection Testing Technology (CDTT) to investigate its potential to fill capability gaps in the Department of the Air Force (DAF).
“The Ombra team has significant experience in chemical detection testing technology, and we have already been actively working on this project to support the Air Force,” said Michael Fieldson, Founder and President of Ombra. “Our company continues work intensely with the Department of Defense (DOD) on several of their important technology challenges.”
The Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and STTR process by accelerating the small business experience through a faster proposal to award timelines, changing the pool of potential applicants by expanding opportunities to small business and losing bureaucratic overhead by continually implementing process improvement changes in contract execution.
The DAF began offering ‘The Open Topic’ SBIR/STTR program in 2018 which expanded the range of innovations the DAF funded. With this contract, Ombra will continue its journey to create and provide innovative capabilities that will strengthen the national defense of the United States of America.
