Ombra’s GAINS Phase I Delivers Super-Resolution Techniques for Biometric Image Enhancement
TAMPA, FL – As the Department of Defense expands its surveillance and recognition capabilities, Ombra has secured a Phase I SBIR contract from the U.S. Army to develop software that
applies super-resolution techniques to enhance images through advanced GAN architectures. GAINS integrates advanced GAN architectures for upscaling resolution, recovering fine details, and optimizing image quality for biometric use, even in challenging conditions where image degradation may occur due
to operational factors.
The GAINS (Generative AI for Surveillance and Recognition Systems) initiative directly addresses image quality challenges in surveillance and recognition settings, where traditional methods falter due to low resolution, degradation, or environmental factors. With the global AI in military market projected to grow robustly through 2034, driven by advancements in machine learning, GAINS sets the stage for Phase II transitions into defense and commercial sectors, including healthcare, finance, and law enforcement.
