Proposal/Grant Writer

Location: Potsdam, New York or Tampa, FL
Hourly Rate $20.00—$25.00

Position Summary

Ombra is seeking individuals for an immediate hire! We’re looking for students who are enthusiastic about a variety of engineering fields and technical innovation and who possess strong writing, analytical and organizational skills. We pursue opportunities with the Department of Defense and similar agencies which offer funding. If you are a student with one to two years remaining of university in the fields of English, Communications, Political Science or a related field, then this is your opportunity for a valuable experience with an interesting day to day and a rewarding chance for personal and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clear and concise writing: Ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable language for a range of audiences.
• Persuasive writing: Structure proposals to emphasize the value proposition, benefits and solutions to client needs.
• Editing and proofreading: Ensure grammatical accuracy, readability, consistency and adherence to formatting standards.
• Understanding of technical documentation: Ability to interpret technical specifications and project requirements.
• Adapt to a variety of fields of engineering and inter-connected projects to effectively contribute to all efforts.

Qualifications/Competencies:

• Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.
• Preferred candidates will be pursuing a degree in English, Communications, Political Science or related fields.
• Must have one or more years remaining before graduation or must be willing to work a minimum of 12 months as an intern before being considered for full-time positions.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills, detail oriented and excellent work ethic.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
• Excellent technical writing ability.
• Flexibility in balancing work and school duties.
• Must commit to working between 10-19 hours a week, in-office, Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 5 PM
